Starc Blunt ‘IPL’ Remark Ahead of Joining KKR as League’s Highest-Paid Star

Mitchell Starc, a pacer for Premier Australia, talked about his experience rejoining the Indian Premier League after eight years away. In the IPL 2024 players’ auction, Starc—who last played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2014—was signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders after placing a record-breaking price of INR 24.5 crore. The left-arm bowler was also selected by KKR for the 2018 Indian Premier League; however, he did not appear in a single game for the team and later withdrew his name after the team opted to release him.

Starc only participated in two IPL seasons, in 2014 and 2015, during which he captained the RCB bowling unit and claimed 34 wickets in 27 games. The Australian player discussed his arrival back in the lucrative league and expressed his excitement at wearing the KKR purple and gold uniform. Eight years, I believe. I am returning to my intended location at KKR in 2018. I’ll return there to have the opportunity to wear purple and gold. I suppose I don’t remember much from my time with RCB in 2014 and 2015, but I’m eager to dive right in. A fresh cast of characters. A group of men I’ve never met or had the opportunity to collaborate with before,” Starc said to cricket.com.au.

Given his eagerness to play with players he has faced off against on the international scene, Starc rated the Indian Premier competition as the finest T20 competition in the world. “A few international players I’ve encountered and played against. It will indeed be thrilling. This is a fresh challenge, no doubt. Indeed, it promises to be thrilling. Be it the world’s greatest T20 league or not, it’s always a bit of a circus. Well, I’m looking forward to it, Starc said.As Starc became the most expensive player in league history, KKR broke the bank to sign him at the auction after engaging in a fierce bidding war with other teams to sign him for INR 24.5 crore. The two-time IPL champions also added former captain Gautam Gambhir as a mentor to their group of coaches.
