In 2020, well-known singer Mika Singh made her cinematic debut with the thriller series Dangerous, collaborating with Vikram Bhatt, a director who has produced hit films like Raaz. At first, Mika intended to keep the budget for his inaugural movie intact by pairing star Karan Singh Grover with a newbie. The dynamics swiftly grew more complex, though, once Karan’s wife, Bipasha Basu, indicated her interest in joining the project.

Mika openly expressed his dissatisfaction on the podcast KADAK, acknowledging that his initial goal was to cast Karan and a novice in order to control expenses. Bipasha Basu, however, entered the fray and declared, “We can both be a part of this series.” “The experience was a disaster, even though they did fit the budget,” Mika said.

Challenges in Production:

Things didn’t go according to plan right from the start. A significant financial strain resulted from the three-month shoot being extended to a six-month agony. Mika remembered how the team’s plans to fly to London for a month were changed to two months, which resulted in higher expenses. Bipasha and Karan produced a great deal of drama. As a pair, I had reserved a single room for them, but they insisted on having separate rooms and even insisted on staying at another hotel. “I obeyed, but it wasn’t easy at all,” Mika clarified.

Karan Singh Grover suffered a leg injury while filming, which added to the delays. In post-production, Mika also ran several issues. During dubbing, they even offered excuses, citing various causes such as sore throats. When they were compensated for their labor, it was particularly annoying,” he continued.

Conflict Over Kissing Scene:

One of the most unexpected problems arose when the pair declined to film a kissing sequence, which was required per their agreement. “Even though they are married, they still made drama about kissing each other on screen,” Mika added, clearly frustrated by the scenario. He also critiqued the way that performers frequently treat smaller producers differently than they do larger production companies. Mika said, “These stars give big producers like Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Films credit for even the smallest roles, but when they deal with smaller producers who are investing their own money, their attitude changes.”

Mika Decides to Quit Producing Films:

Mika became disillusioned with the film industry as a result of the entire event. “I’ve made the decision to never again create a movie. Mika stated, obviously irritated by the difficulties he encountered, “If you are thinking about it, please give opportunities to newcomers.”

He also recalled the guidance Bollywood giants like Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan gave him before to starting production. “I heard you are making a film,” Akshay said at an event, warning him against shooting a movie. Have you lost your mind? Why would you want to knock on actors’ trucks to let them know their shot is ready when you’ve accomplished so much in life? Salman Khan suggested Mika appear in his own project, giving similar advice. “It’s fine if you want to make a movie, but at least be a star in it,” Salman added. The people you cast are not as well-known as you are. However, I didn’t pay attention,” Mika said. I now regret not becoming the lead in my own project. I could have at least made the tunes work.

Karan and Bipasha’s Relationship:

Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover were married in 2016 after meeting on the set of Alone in 2015. Devi, a girl, was the couple’s first child born in 2022.
