2 Jawans Killed, 4 Injured in Maoist IED Attack in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur
Maoists attacked a Special Task Force (STF) vehicle in the Bijapur area of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday night, killing two STF members and injuring four more, according to police. The event happened in the Tarrem area when a combined security force was leaving the woodlands near the intersection of the Bijapur, Sukma, and Dantewada districts. The team had been conducting an anti-Maoist operation. The operation started on Tuesday and featured members of the STF, the District Reserve Guard, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and its special squad, CoBRA. These were all state police groups.
The Bijapur police released a statement saying, “Teams of STF, DRG, CoBRA, and CRPF from the said districts went on a special operation in a joint operation on July 16 after receiving intelligence about the presence of Naxals belonging to Darbha and West Bastar divisions and military company no. 2.” When the staff was leaving after the operation was over, the Maoists threw IEDs at them.

According to the police, additional protection has been deployed to the area, and plans have been made for the injured STF jawans to receive the appropriate care.
