Manu Bhaker’s Bold Response to Online Trolls Criticizing Her for Wearing Olympic Medals at Public Events

After recently being criticized by online trolls for taking her medals to events she was invited to after the Paris Olympics, Indian shooting star Manu Bhaker had a perfect answer. When asked in an interview about people on the internet who had spotted her out and about with her bronze medals, Manu replied straight away, “Will do! Yes, why not?”

Her confident response drew applause from those present. The 19-year-old added that far from doing anything wrong, she was only following instructions. She said organizers asked her to bring hardware along when they invite her places—and so that is exactly what she does.

“People there want to see medals; everyone likes to see medals,” explained Manu. “So I carry it, just in case someone wants a look.”“They say ‘please bring medal’, so once I bring, then there are a lot of photographs taken!”

Manu, who was grateful for her recognition, said she was happy to be celebrated nationwide. She added that everywhere she goes, people show her love, and she feels thankful for it all.

Training used to take up so much of her time that there were events she simply couldn’t attend. Now things are different: the 22-year-old can go, and it feels fantastic.

The shooter made history at the 2024 Olympics in Paris by becoming Independent India’s first ever double-medallist at a single Games. She picked up bronze in both the women’s 10m air pistol and the mixed team event alongside Sarabjot Singh—also 10m air pistol.
