Malaika Arora and Son Arhaan Khan Support Grieving Mother Joyce at Anil Mehta’s Last Rites

Reality TV personality and former VJ Malaika Arora was seen outside the Mumbai residence of her father, Anil Mehta, who had passed away, as the actress along with her family members reached to prepare for his last rites on Thursday.

Dressed in a white suit with black sunglasses, Malaika accompanied her mother Joyce Polycarp with her son Arhaan Khan in tow. Also present was Arjun Kapoor, among others, to pay respect to Malaika’s late father.

There was this distinct moment when Arhaan was clicked consoling his grandmother Joyce as Malaika and he took an emotional walk towards their car, which was parked at a distance. Malaika was seen helping her mother into the car amidst sea of mediapersons.

The relatives and friends were walking behind them. Besides Arjun Kapoor, Arbaaz Khan with wife Sshura Khan were also present during the ceremony.

Several celebrities visited Malaika’s parents’ house in Mumbai on Wednesday to console the bereaved family members.

These included Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Malaika’s ex-husband Arbaaz Khan, and actor Arjun Kapoor. Others who also visited Ananya Panday, Kim Sharma, among others as they came in solidarity with the grieving family.

Malaika Arora took to Instagram Wednesday night to announce a personal loss. The actress/model said her father, Anil Mehta, 62, died – an apparent suicide – according to Mumbai Police.

Malaika wrote: “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband and our best friend.

We are utterly devastated by his loss, and we ask that you respect our privacy at this critical point in time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect…

On the investigation, DCP Crime Branch Raj Tilak Roshan spoke with mediapersons outside Malaika’s parents’ residence in Bandra.

He also confirmed that the body of Anil Mehta, which lay on the 6th floor, was sent for examination, and further investigations take place.

“We are investigating all angles,” Roshan said. “Our forensic teams are at the spot, and the body is being taken to postmortem. It looks like suicide, but we are conducting a proper inquiry.”
