Krunal Pandya Provides Major Injury Update on Mayank Yadav After Mid-Game Exit in LSG vs GT Clash
Lucknow Super Giants fixed a crucial 33-run victory against Gujarat Titans in their later IPL 2024 fixture in Lucknow on Sunday. Defending a target of 164 runs, LSG bowled out GT for 130 in 18.5 overs, courtesy of a five-wicket haul from Yash Thakur. Meanwhile, Krunal Pandya took three wickets for the KL Rahul-led side. Even though they prevailed, Lucknow suffered a severe blow that might have ended the game. Due to an injury, their new pace sensation, Mayank Yadav, had to leave the game in the middle. Yadav left the run chase in the ninth over with a strained side.
In the aftermath of the game, Krunal assured supporters that the young player wouldn’t miss any more games due to a non-serious injury. The all-round player added, “I don’t know what exactly happened to Mayank Yadav, but I had a couple of seconds with him,” following the game. Therefore, I believe he can continue in the next bout. For us, that is encouraging news. Before missing the competition due to an injury, he was bowling well in the nets the previous season. He always keeps a level head, regardless of the conversations we have or the things we observe. I’m really looking forward to seeing how his career develops.”
Initially, LSG scored 163/5 in 20 overs thanks to a half-century by Marcus Stoinis (58). Umesh Yadav and Darshan Nalkande each grabbed two wickets for GT in the interim. Currently leading the IPL 2024 rankings, LSG is riding a three-match victory streak. For its second consecutive loss, GT, on the other hand, fell short and is currently ranked seventh out of the 10 teams.
