Lucknow Super Giants Appoint Nicholas Pooran as Vice-Captain for IPL 2024 Season

The teams have begun getting ready for the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have named Nicholas Pooran their vice captain, taking the initiative early. He will help head coach Justin Langer and captain KL Rahul make crucial decisions. Recently, Pooran guided MI Emirates to the ILT20 championship.

The announcement was made by the franchise on X. Lucknow paid INR 16 crore for him during the previous season. Pooran has formerly played for the Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Mumbai Indians. The Orange Army paid INR 10.75 crore for the 2022 West Indies T20I captain.

Nicholas  Pooran’s Stellar Performance

In the 2024 IPL, Pooran showed up for LSG and scored 358 runs with two fifties at an astonishing strike pace of 172.94.The previous season, he was playing ahead of South Africa’s Quinton de Kock. Having served in leadership capacities with a number of teams, including the national team, he will now assume same responsibility with an IPL squad. Notably, during Rahul’s absence from a few games in both the first and second seasons, Krunal Pandya substituted in for him. In his six games as captain, Pandya has three wins, two losses, and one draw.

The Lucknow Super Giants, meanwhile, are optimistic that their injured captain Rahul will be ready for the March 22 opening of the league. The Indian batsman is visiting a specialist in London right now regarding soreness in his right quadriceps.Reports state that LSG is aware of the captain’s development and is optimistic about his availability for the match. On March 24 at Jaipur, the Super Giants will play their maiden game against the Rajasthan Royals.
