Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister and leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), was brutally murdered about two days ago. Mumbai Police are putting in a lot of effort to figure out who killed him and what kind of conspiracy there was.
Lawrence Bishnoi’s Possible Involvement
Mumbai Police sources claim that investigators have not ruled out the possibility of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi being involved. They are looking into everything, too, since some officers think Bishnoi’s name is being used as a “deflection” to draw attention away from the real mastermind.
Arrests and Planning of the Attack
About the murder of Siddique, three people have been taken into custody: Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap, Gurmail Baljit Singh, and Pravin Lonkar. Shivkumar Gautam, the chief shooter, is still at large, nevertheless. According to the police, Shivkumar is likely to know important details about who gave the order to kill.
It is said that the group planned to shoot Siddique when they got there, and Dharmaraj and Gurmail were supposed to fire the shots. But with a large police presence, Shivkumar altered the strategy and took the initiative. After firing six shots at Siddique, striking him twice, he left the scene. Shivkumar managed to get away by throwing chili powder at police officials before he fled into the crowd, but Dharmaraj and Gurmail were taken into custody.
Ongoing Search for Key Information
Shivkumar is the target of police attention since they think he knows important information about who gave the order to kill. The detained Dharmaraj and Gurmail have stated they were not aware of the higher-level directives.
On the evening of October 12, three men shot and killed Baba Siddique, 66, a former Maharashtra minister who had defected from the Congress to join Ajit Pawar’s NCP party. The incident happened outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s Bandra office.
Background of the Shooter: Shivkumar Gautam
Twenty-three-year-old Shivkumar Gautam originates from Gandara village in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. Once engaged in junk trade, his family had gotten alienated from him over time. His mother revealed that although Shivkumar was well-off, he had stopped communicating with her and seldom sent money home. Although his father expressed shock at the thought of his son killing someone, he also stated that Shivkumar should be held accountable if proven guilty.

Role of Co-Conspirator Pravin Lonkar
Pravin Lonkar, age 28, was detained in Pune on suspicion of taking part in the murderous scheme. Pravin is said to have aided in recruiting Dharmaraj and Shivkumar for the murders and provided them with sanctuary in Pune, along with his brother Shubham Lonkar. Shubham is still at large and is being sought by the police. Authorities are also looking into a social media post that one of the Lonkar brothers is said to have written on behalf of a Lawrence Bishnoi gang member, claiming responsibility for Siddique’s death.
The police are still looking for answers as the investigation progresses, with a particular emphasis on locating Shivkumar and identifying the real assassin of Baba Siddique.
