Kriti Sanon asks why male co-stars get paid 10 times more ‘for no reason’: It’s not like he’s given a hit in years

Following the box office triumph of her most recent movie, Rajesh A. Krishnan’s heist comedy Crew, in which she starred with Tabu and Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon is experiencing a resurgence. But Kriti talked about wage equity and asked why some of her male co-stars get ten times as much as she does in a recent interview with Film Companion.

What Kriti said

The salary gap that exists now between male and female performers is enormous and essentially unjustified. Occasionally, without cause. Kriti said, “There are times when you question why someone is paid 10 times when, after all, he hasn’t delivered a hit in a decade. She also elucidated the reasoning for producers’ compensation disparity. “Recovery is what the producers say most of the time. Digital and satellite recovery takes place somewhat ahead of the premiere of a movie. Before the term took off. To obtain that type of funding from digital and satellite distribution is understandable, as male-centric films perform far better there than those centered on female characters. “I believe that’s the difference,” Kriti continued.

She also claimed that producers weren’t willing to put in the same budget in Crew, which has three A-list female actors, as they would in a similar entertaining comedy with three male actors. She said that aspect hasn’t changed in the six years since Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor, producers of Crew, backed an all-women mainstream film in Veere Di Wedding. Kareena and Sonam Kapoor, among others, had to take wage cutbacks in order to keep the film’s budget under control in the 2018 chick movie.

About Crew

The story of Crew, which takes place in the airline business, centers on three air hostesses who work for a failing airline and have the opportunity to generate money illegally from their otherwise exploitative positions. Diljit Dosanjh, Kapil Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, Saswata Chatterjee, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda were among the other actors who appeared in the movie. Rhea and Ekta’s Balaji Motion Pictures co-produced it. At the domestic box office, it garnered more than ₹75 crore. The next film that Kriti will appear in with Kajol is the thriller Do Patti on Netflix India. This is Kriti’s first production as a producer under her label, Blue Butterfly Films.
