KL Rahul Consults Specialist In London For Quadriceps Injury, Set To Miss Dharamshala Test
KL Rahul will not play in the last Test match of the England series, which begins on March 7 in Dharamsala. Rahul, who played the first Test match of the series in Hyderabad, is reportedly currently in London seeing a specialist over a quadricep tendon ailment that kept him out of the second, third, and fourth Test matches against England.
It is said that his Lucknow Super Giants, who will play in the Indian Premier League starting on March 22, are aware of his progress and are hopeful about his availability. On March 24, the Super Giants take on the Rajasthan Royals in the afternoon in Jaipur in their inaugural game. Soon after India lost the first Test, Rahul complained of pain in his right quadriceps.
Rahul had rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, and the BCCI medical experts there initially predicted he would be well enough to play the third Test, which was held in Rajkot from February 15 to 18. Rahul was included in the squad by the selectors for the last three Test matches, pending his fitness.
Rahul told the medical professionals he didn’t feel completely confident about his quad, thus he never went to Rajkot. He continued to experience stiffness in his right leg even after the NCA scans produced no alarms, so he missed the Vizag and Ranchi Tests as well. It is believed that Rahul updated the selectors on the matter through a conversation with them. Before returning to cricket, Rahul must obtain NCA permission following the report from the London specialist.
Rahul had surgery last year after he “ripped apart the tendon from quadriceps” while fielding for the Super Giants against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. Rahul is the captain of the Super Giants. Rahul was absent from both the World Test Championship final (held in June) and the remainder of the IPL. Rahul then participated in the World Cup and the Asia Cup. Rahul claimed in an interview with bcci.tv that the injury had a significant psychological impact and had caused him to question if he would ever be able to feel confident again.
