Khalistani Terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun Warns Air India Passengers: “Avoid Flying from Nov 1-19”

On Monday, Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun issued another threat against Air India, advising passengers to avoid the plane from November 1 to November 19. According to his claims, this period marks the “40th anniversary of the Sikh genocide” in India. The Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) leader Pannun hinted that Air India flights could be targeted. This comes after a similar threat was made the prior year, which brought up issues about expected disturbances and the safety of flights.

Who is Gurpatwant Singh Pannun and the Sikhs for Justice?

Pannun is a well-known representative of the Khalistan separatist movement, which requires the making of a free Sikh state called Khalistan from the Punjab area of India. Pannun, a US-based lawyer, established SFJ, a group that advocates for Khalistan by political and legal means. To rally support for the cause, SFJ has coordinated global campaigns and referendums under his direction.

As the leader of Referendum 2020, a campaign to determine Sikh support for the establishment of a separate state, Pannun has been at the forefront of digital initiatives supporting the Khalistan movement. In addition, he has brought legal action against Indian officials and promoted Khalistan on the global stage.

Designated Terrorist and Diplomatic Tensions

The Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) classified Pannun as a terrorist in July 2020 for encouraging separatism and instigating violence. His Indian properties have been seized, and the Indian government has issued several arrest orders against him. Pannun continues to be involved in international politics despite this, especially in the US, Canada, and the UK, where he advocates for support for Khalistan.

Particularly between India and Canada, Pannun’s citizenship and continued actions have caused a great deal of diplomatic strain. His most recent threat coincides with increased security worries after a wave of false bomb threats disrupted Indian aircraft.
