Recently, Keerthy Suresh made her much anticipated Bollywood debut with Varun Dhawan in the action-packed movie Baby John, directed by Kalees. In the movie, a Hindi adaptation of Atlee’s 2016 Tamil hit Theri, Keerthy plays a crucial part that Samantha Ruth Prabhu initially performed. In an interview with Galatta India, Keerthy disclosed that Samantha suggested her for the position. She reflected on the chance, saying, “Varun told me that she probably had me in mind when this project came about.” I’m really grateful to her for that. “Keerthy will do justice to this character” is a really considerate statement from her. One of my all-time favorite Tamil performances is hers in Theri. To be honest, I was anxious when I assumed this position.

Additionally, Keerthy recounted a touching encounter with Samantha, who, after seeing the Baby John video, posted her support on social media. “I wouldn’t have shared this role with anyone else but you,” she said in an Instagram story. I was really touched by that gesture. It was the most memorable debut I could have hoped for. I’m delighted I got the opportunity to portray this character in Hindi since it’s one of my favorites,” Keerthy continued. In Nag Ashwin’s highly regarded Telugu film Mahanati (2018), in which Keerthy took home the National Award for Best Actress, the two actresses previously collaborated.

Samantha’s Role in Varun’s Journey

It’s interesting to see that Samantha and Varun Dhawan get along well at work. The pair most recently appeared in Prime Video India’s Citadel: Honey Bunny, an espionage series starring Raj and DK. Varun acknowledged Samantha’s support and faith in him in an exclusive interview.

Samantha’s belief in me is largely responsible for Baby John and Honey Bunny’s success at Citadel. She greatly inspired me and believed in my potential. I sincerely appreciate that. Varun said, “Her confidence made a huge difference.” “It’s my manifestation for Varun,” Samantha said, amusingly taking credit for the achievement. It seems to me that this year will be his year. Baby John is one of the most anticipated Bollywood films of the year, with important parts for Jackie Shroff, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Rajpal Yadav.
