The Buckingham Murders Teaser: Kareena Kapoor Transforms from Grieving Mother to Detective in Thrilling New Film
The long-awaited promo for Kareena Kapoor Khan’s The Buckingham Murders is finally out, and this one is said to be a real humdinger. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the film is up on September 13 and takes the vacancy of Sara Ali Khan’s Metro In Dino with Aditya Roy Kapur.
For the very first time, Kareena Kapoor Khan will be seen playing a detective in her career, quite a leap from all her previous characters. With Hansal Mehta at its helm, this crime drama had a lot of expectation tagging to its teaser.
Going by how the teaser turns out, Kareena, who plays a role very different from her other characters, while being a sad mother who has lost her child, diverts her sadness to become a detective.
The Buckingham Murders had its world premiere to great acclaim at the BFI London Film Festival 2023, proceeding to be screened at the Mumbai Film Festival hosted by the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in October. Interestingly, it would be Kareena’s first outing with Hansal Mehta, who also dons the role of co-producer in the film.
During a conversation at Netflix’s The Actors’ Roundtable 2023, Kareena Kapoor disclosed details about her character in the movie. She reveals that her character is a mother who, after a tragic mishap where her child was shot in the opening scene, took up the case and becomes a detective. The film kick-starts after her escape from her town to this new place because of this really twisted case.
Earlier this year, Kareena had told PTI about the role, “I loved playing this part because it’s my first time playing a detective, and I’m a huge fan of crime dramas.” She confessed further that though her character goes through deep grief, which makes this role challenging, it brought great satisfaction.
