Kamal Haasan Announces Alliance with MK Stalin’s DMK, Unveiling a Surprising Twist
On Saturday, Kamal Haasan declared that his party, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), would form an alliance with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), led by MK Stalin, and would offer complete backing for the Lok Sabha elections. “Joined the DMK-led alliance for the country’s sake, not for the position,” declared Kamal Haasan, the founder of MNM, in Chennai. MNM has been given a seat in the Rajya Sabha for 2025 by the DMK. At the DMK headquarters in Anna Arivalayam, Haasan and M.K. Stalin, the chief minister of the DMK, finalized the arrangement.
Haasan’s MNM to support the alliance in Lok Sabha polls
As per the agreement between the two leaders, MNM promised “full support” to the coalition and will actively participate in campaign efforts in the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu as well as the single Puducherry sector.
Haasan gave hints long ago
In response to the “Sanatana Dharma” controversy, Kamal Haasan spoke up for Udhayanidhi Stalin, stating that “a small child (Udhayanidhi) was being targeted just because he spoke about Sanatana.” In December 2022, Haasan was spotted traveling with Congressman Rahul Gandhi on his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra through Tamil Nadu. In the Erode by-polls, the MNM threw its support behind the Secular Progressive Alliance candidate, who was led by the DMK, even though the party had lost both the 2019 Lok Sabha and the 2021 Assembly elections. In 2018, the politician and actor established MNM. According to DMK sources, the ruling Congress party and the DMK are expected to finalize their seat-sharing agreement by Sunday as the Lok Sabha elections approach. The seat deal is presently being negotiated, and talks should come to a close over the weekend.
