Kailash Gahlot Explains Why He Quit AAP: Newly Inducted BJP Leader Cites Dilution of Values
Kailash Gahlot, a former Delhi minister and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying that his decision was the result of extensive consideration. Gahlot claimed that leaving the AAP required a great deal of “courage” and that his main motivation was the party’s degradation of its basic beliefs and ideals.
Gahlot stressed to reporters that these kinds of choices require time. These decisions take time to develop; they don’t happen all at once. When I noticed that the party was straying from its core principles, I found it hard to stay,” he said.
Hints of Dissatisfaction in AAP
Gahlot made a suggestion that other AAP members might feel the same way he does but lack the guts to quit. He did, however, clarify that his decision was not motivated by differences of opinion with any particular politician, including Atishi, the chief minister of Delhi. “Portfolio allocations were never a problem,” he continued. I felt great fulfillment in my work as the Transport Minister, and I loved my job.
An Emotional Decision
Gahlot described his leaving as emotional and remarked, “It wasn’t easy to quit.” The decision deeply hurt me, as I had been with AAP since its founding in 2015. It’s an important and very personal decision that you don’t make carelessly.
Resignation and Reasons Behind It
On Sunday, Gahlot declared his renunciation from the AAP, referring to his dismay with the party’s administration. He blamed the AAP for previous its vows to individuals of Delhi for its political aspirations.He stated in his letter of resignation that “the focus shifted to political agendas instead of fighting for people’s rights.”

Gahlot expressed that he was “not aware” of the subtleties of the banner-lifting episode that happened on August 15. He proceeded to say that despite the fact that he knew about the authority correspondence convention as the previous Home Priest, he couldn’t check whether the right conventions were continued comparable to a letter from Arvind Kejriwal.
