Justin Trudeau Government Denies Linking PM Modi and S Jaishankar to Criminal Activities in Canada

The Canadian government clarified its position on Friday in the face of increased diplomatic tensions with India. In a statement, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s National Security and Intelligence Advisor, Nathalie G. Drouin, denied any allegations that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, or National Security Advisor Ajit Doval were involved in illegal activity in Canada.

“The Canadian government has not disclosed any information or evidence that would connect Prime Minister Modi, Minister Jaishankar, or NSA Doval to any significant criminal activity in Canada,” Drouin noted. The message went on to stress that any other idea is “speculative and inaccurate.”

RCMP’s Extraordinary Step

On October 14, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and officials took the unusual step of publicly accusing Indian government agents in Canada of engaging in criminal activities because of a “significant and ongoing threat to public safety,” according to the Canadian statement.

Indian Response to Media Reports

The explanation came after India vehemently vehemently a case by the Canadian distributor The Globe and Mail that looked to connect PM Modi, Jaishankar, and Doval to the homicide of NIA-assigned fear monger Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) dismissed the report, describing the claims as “ridiculous” and part of a “slanderous attack” that hurts reciprocal relations.MEA spokeswoman Randhir Jaiswal stated, “Such absurd statements made to a newspaper purportedly by a Canadian government source should be dismissed with the contempt they deserve.”

Diplomatic Strain Escalates

In recent months, there has been a critical decrease in the connection between Canada and India. India is stressed over the ascent in brutality, fanaticism, and hostility to Indian feelings in Canada. After Justin Trudeau said that there were “credible allegations” that India was involved in the June 18 murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey, British Columbia, tensions increased.

Calling the accusations “absurd” and “motivated,” India has categorically refuted them and chastised Canada for having anti-Indian and extremist groups. Following Canada’s designation of six diplomats as “persons of interest” in the Najjar homicide probe, India recalled them in response to continuing allegations. The growing mistrust between the two countries is shown by this diplomatic dispute, in which India’s MEA calls on Canada to take decisive action against extremist activities to reestablish respect and collaboration.
