Jenna Ortega Shuts Down Rumors of Relationship with Johnny Depp: “It’s So Insane to Me”

Hollywood actress Jenna Ortega of Wednesday and the forthcoming Beetlejuice talking to weird speculations that romantically linked her with legendary star Johnny Depp. Last year, rumors sparked when an Instagram story from Deux Moi suggested their alleged sighting on a date, which catapulted into widespread rumors about a relationship.

First out the gate to shut down the rumors was Jenna, with reps for Johnny Depp also issuing a straight denial of any involvement that might tie the two together. For the record, in a new interview with Buzzfeed Celeb out promoting her latest movie, Beetlejuice, Jenna shared that the rumors almost sounded surprising to those in the business who knew them.

In the interview, surrounded by cute puppies, she recalled, “Probably the craziest rumor I’ve heard about myself is that I was in a serious relationship with Johnny Depp. It’s so insane to me. I never spoke on that, I never said anything like that, but articles really do just make up their own quotes. She added that the actor Richie E. Grant, with whom she was working on-set, found the rumor to be pretty hilarious. “I was on set with Richie E. Grant, and he came up to me and just said, ‘Oh so you and Johnny,'” she laughed, “and I don’t even know that person.

So when the rumors were first raised, Jenna nipped them at the bud, as it were, claiming the entire scenario to be ludicrous and emphasizing she had never met or worked with Johnny Depp. She further went on to say that people needed not to spread the lies and leave them both out of baseless speculations.

Johnny Depp’s spokespersons also issued a statement, running, ” Mr. Depp has no personal or professional relationship with Ms. Ortega whatsoever. He has never met her or spoken to her. He is not involved in any project with her, nor does he intend to be. He is appalled by these baseless and malicious rumors that are intended to harm his reputation and career.”

As for Jenna, she’s kept busy with her successful career, having her new movie, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, being officially set to release on September 6. The highly anticipated film stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, and Willem Dafoe.
