Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘Mahi’ Promotion Steals Spotlight at IPL Match: Not MS Dhoni!

At Friday’s Indian Premier League game in Mumbai, Janhvi Kapoor gave “Mahi” a promotion. It wasn’t MS Dhoni who was playing. Janhvi was sporting a blue T-shirt during the Kolkata Knight Riders vs. Mumbai Indians game. But what caught everyone’s eye on her T-shirt was the words, not the color.

The star posted brief videos of her experience at the match on her Instagram account on Friday. She shared pictures of herself with Sharan Sharma, the director of Gunjan Saxena, and selfies that she had taken in the car. The post’s caption read, “Mahi’s day out… There, @rajkummar_rao, you were missed by Mr. Mahi. Her striking ensemble, which featured ‘Mahi’ prominently, was striking. “Cricket is life, and life is cricket” was written on the shirt’s back. The Mahi on her T-shirt was a reference to her upcoming cricket movie, Mr. and Mrs. Mahi, which is scheduled to open in theaters on May 31, rather than MS Dhoni.

Mr. and Mrs. Mahi, which is helmed by Sharan Sharma, who is well-known for directing Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, is Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s second joint venture following their lucrative run in Roohi. Dharma Productions, led by Karan Johar, is supporting it. Rajkummar, Janhvi’s co-star, was in Jaipur promoting his next film, Srikanth, while Janhvi and Sharan were busy promoting Mr. and Mrs. Mahi on Friday. In the movie, he portrays the life of industrialist Srikanth Bolla, who, in spite of his vision impairment, boldly followed his aspirations. On May 10, the film is scheduled for release in theaters.

The pan-Indian movie Devara: Part 1, which also has Saif Ali Khan and NTR Jr. as key characters, is one of Janhvi’s next projects. Janhvi will make her Tamil debut opposite Suriya, following her Telugu breakthrough with Devara. She can also be seen in Ulajh, an action thriller. Rajkummar’s next films are Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video and Stree 2, which both hit theaters this month.
