2 Killed, 25 Injured as Bus Plunges into 200-Feet-Deep Gorge in J&K’s Doda

A bus in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district veered off the road and fell into a 200-foot-deep chasm on Saturday, resulting in at least two fatalities and twenty-five injuries. “The accident claimed the lives of two people. Five more people were sent to the hospital and four more had critical injuries. Nine people in all have been referred to the Government Medical College (GMC) Doda, according to Doda deputy commissioner Harvinder Singh.

“It appears that the bus’s malfunction caused the disaster… The motorist made every effort to stay out of the collision. We are grateful for his efforts. But the accident claimed the lives of two of us. Two children were among the 26 injured individuals in total. We have sent GMC Doda severe patients,” he continued. According to the sources, the nine additional injured people are receiving treatment at the Government Medical College in Doda. It was reported that their condition is serious.

The tragedy occurred the day after a mother and boy were killed in the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir when a car went off the road and fell into a steep valley. The Bolero car carrying eight people was reportedly traveling from Surankote to Srinagar. At Pannar, the car lost control and plunged into a steep ravine. On July 9, a car carrying three persons in Kishtwar district went off the road and fell into a steep valley, leaving three dead and three gravely injured.

The accident happened at approximately 5:45 p.m. in the isolated Dachhan area, close to Sounder, according to a report, the officials stated. They claimed that the rescuers had removed three people’s bodies from the scene. Three further passengers were taken to the hospital in critical condition and evacuated. On June 30, an automobile in the Rajouri area plunged down a canyon, killing the man and his son and critically injuring his wife. According to report, officials said that Shakeel Ahmad, a native of Krag Mohra village, was traveling from Kotranka to Shahpur with his wife Shamim Akhter and son Mohd Mukhtar.
