S Jaishankar Meets Wang Yi, Emphasizes Importance of Respecting LAC

Meeting with his Chinese colleague Wang Yi on the fringes of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference in Astana on Thursday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar talked about “early resolution of remaining issues in border areas.” The union minister reported that during the discussion, all parties decided to further up their efforts to address the border disputes through diplomatic and military channels.

According to S Jaishankar, it is imperative to uphold the Line of Actual Control and maintain tranquillity in the border regions. The bilateral relations between India and China, he said, would be guided by the three principles of mutual respect, mutual sensitivity, and respect.

“I met FM Wang Yi and a member of the CPC Politburo this morning in Astana. talked about the early settlement of any outstanding problems in border areas. agreed to step up efforts in that direction via military and diplomatic avenues. It is imperative to honor the Los Angeles Convention and maintain calm and harmony in the border regions. The three mutuals that will govern our bilateral relationship are mutual respect, mutual sensitivity, and mutual interest,” he wrote on X.
