IPL 2024: Yash Dayal Becomes The First Impact Player of the Season in CSK vs RCB Match
Yash Dayal of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru becomes the first impact player to be deployed in the 2024 Indian Premier League. In their season-opening encounter on March 22 against CSK, RCB used their impact substitution. In RCB’s opening encounter against CSK, Yash Dayal took Dinesh Karthik’s place after the team collected 173 runs in their batting inning.
The BCCI implemented the Impact Player rule the previous season, enabling teams to remove a player midway through the match in order to adapt to changing circumstances or playing conditions and to replace a player who is not performing up to par.
As an extra wicketkeeper for the RCB, Dinesh Karthik used to score quickly down the order. As a result, RCB decided to utilize DK while batting and Yash Dayal in the game’s second inning.
Speaking about the match, Faf du Plessis, the captain of the RCB, chose to bat first after winning the toss and, as predicted, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis opened the innings. While Virat played a solid period, Faf du Plessis got the game started aggressively.
Mustafizur Shines with 4 Wickets as RCB Sets Target Of 173
But as soon as Mustafizur Rahman, CSK’s latest addition, bowls his first over of the season, Faf’s era ends. The Bangladeshi-born player took out Faf du Plessis for 35 runs and gave the Royals their first wicket.
Rahman quickly changed the RCB’s aggressive start to a duck, dismissing Rajat Patidar for a duck in the same over. Chahar put more pressure on the RCB hitters by dismissing Glenn Maxwell for a golden duck in the very next over.
Anuj Rawaj and Dinesh Karthik formed a fantastic partnership and blasted 95 runs off of only 57 deliveries shortly after Cameroon Green was dismissed for 18 runs. In 20 overs, RCB scored 173 runs for 6 wickets thanks to the outstanding combination between the two.

However, Dinesh Karthik, who partnered with Anuj Rawat for 95 runs, believes they were “slightly under par.” However, Mustafizur, who was playing in his maiden game for CSK, took four wickets and scored 29 runs in four overs. Tushar Deshpande, who cost CSK a stunning 47 runs in 4 overs, including 6 wides, became their most costly bowler.
