IPL 2024: Shreyas Iyer joins team’s camp ahead of season

Leading Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer arrived to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) training camp on Sunday in anticipation of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). Images of the 29-year-old joining the team were posted by the Kolkata-based team’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. Phil Salt was announced by KKR earlier this month as Jason’s replacement for the 2024 IPL season.

With quality international players like Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Phil Salt, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Mitchell Starc available, along with a solid core of Indian players in Nitish Rana, skipper Shreyas Iyer, Rinku Singh, Venkatesh Iyer, and Varun Charkavarthy, KKR will be hoping to prevail in the IPL 2024. They had six wins, eight losses, and a seventh-place finish the previous season. Their 12 points were insufficient to secure a postseason berth.

Earlier this month, Phil Salt was announced by Kolkata Knight Riders as Jason Roy’s replacement. After competing for the Delhi Capitals in the previous edition, Salt was signed by KKR after failing to secure a spot in the 2024 IPL mini-auction. In contrast, Roy pulled out of the T20 competition, claiming personal reasons.

KKR will be looking to win the IPL 2024 with a strong core of Indian players in Nitish Rana, skipper Shreyas Iyer, Rinku Singh, Venkatesh Iyer, and Varun Charkavarthy, as well as quality international players like Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Phil Salt, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Mitchell Starc available. The previous season, they finished in seventh place with six wins, eight defeats, and a record of 6. Their 12 points were not enough to guarantee them a spot in the postseason.

The Kolkata Knight Riders stated earlier this month that Phil Salt will take Jason Roy’s place. Salt was signed by KKR after competing for the Delhi Capitals in the previous edition and missing out on a spot in the 2024 IPL mini-auction. Roy, on the other hand, withdrew from the T20 tournament citing personal concerns.
