IPL 2024 Schedule Announcement: Live Updates on CSK’s Opening Match Opponent!
The BCCI is scheduled to reveal the eagerly awaited IPL 2024 schedule in a short time. The 17th season of the Indian Premier League is expected to be bigger and better than the previous one. And while it is possible that not every fixture will be made public today, it is also possible that the largest T20 carnival in Indian cricket may only be a month away. Even though it seems like it was only last month when Ravindra Jadeja hit a boundary off the final ball to lead the Chennai Super Kings to their fifth IPL championship, the truth is that eight long months have passed since that historic night in Ahmedabad. I suppose that’s what the IPL accomplishes—it leaves a lasting impression.
The primary obstacle to the IPL 2024 was the likelihood of it conflicting with the general elections. It has previously happened twice, resulting in disorganized decision-making. In contrast to the 2009 edition, which was held wholly in South Africa, the 2014 IPL was split into two halves, one held in the United Arab Emirates and the other back in India. But in 2019, the two occasions did not coincide, and as a result, all of the IPL’s games, which began on March 23, took place in India. Although there were some rumors this year as well, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal made it very clear that the competition wouldn’t be relocated overseas. The whole picture won’t be revealed until further information is available.
I’m going back to cricket now. Around the IPL this year, there is a lot of excitement. The Mumbai Indians are now led by Hardik Pandya, and the Gujarat Titans are now coached by Shubman Gill. And, naturally, MS Dhoni’s grand farewell. Although he intends to make one more run “next year,” the Chennai Super Kings captain said last year that winning the Indian Premier League in 2023 would have been the perfect time to call it quits. The current year is 2024. MSD is bringing back nostalgic memories of Dhoni’s arrival in what is likely his final season. He’s probably going to play with BAS as his bat sticker because he’s grown his hair like he did in the mid-2000s. Such heartfelt and valuable acts are only possible with Dhoni.
Now let’s talk about CSK’s main competitors: the Mumbai Indians. They made the news well in advance of the competition. They created quite a sensation when they declared that Hardik would succeed Rohit Sharma as the team’s captain on December 15, 2023. The decision set off a social media commotion as many MI and other fans expressed their anger loudly and flooded their franchise’s timelines with posts. Still, it is what it is. The group believed that MI, who had been without a championship for three seasons, should make the change, and after Hardik joined the squad, they were certain that he would be the one. In reality, rumors state that Hardik’s condition for returning to Michigan was a captaincy guarantee.
The main factor leading up to the IPL 2024, aside from MI and CSK, is the auction that happened on December 19, where Pat Cummins and Mitchell Marsh struck gold. With Cummins becoming the first player to break the 20-crore margin, the Australian pace-bowling duo broke records and eventually made their way to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Even before it was announced that Cummins’ world-record-breaking contract would be extended to every country, Starc outperformed it by becoming the most expensive player ever, as KKR spent an astounding ₹24.75 crore on him. As for the most expensive Indian, Harshal Patel came in first place, with the Punjab Kings spending ₹11.75 crore.

Aside from MI and CSK, the primary event before the IPL 2024 is the December 19 auction, in which Pat Cummins and Mitchell Marsh struck gold.
