Virat Kohli Requests RCB Fans to Stop Calling Him ‘The King’: ‘It’s Very Embarrassing
Starting on Friday, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will take place. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take up their unfinished business of winning the glass, though with an unused connection. They will play their season opener at Chepauk on Walk 19 against the guarding winner Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Sometime recently, taking out for Chennai, the players of Royal Challengers Bangalore assembled at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, a domestic ground, to reveal the unused uniform and group title at the Unbox Event. Besides, as the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) champions, the women’s group, led by Smriti Mandhana, was presented with a guard of honor by the men’s team. One of the highlights of the star-studded evening was Virat Kohli. And when he was called upon to speak, the assembly went crazy. The crowd let out loud cries of “Kohli-Kohli,” to the point that the former captain of the RCB had to wait for them to stop.
The event moderator, Danish Sait, questioned Kohli over the “King feeling.” The spectators were enthralled with the question once more, but as the star batter started to respond, he asked everyone to stop using the title “King.” “Allow me to speak. Guys, we need to travel to Chennai this evening. We don’t have time because we have a chartered flight (laughter). First of all, please quit referring to me as [King]. Just call me Virat, Kohli added. “I was telling Faf that it is very embarrassing for me when you call me that name every year.”
‘Dream of Mine to Know How It Feels Like Winning the IPL Trophy’
The supporters would expect the guys to get motivated and push themselves to win the IPL trophies now that the RCB women have won the WPL title. Despite spending 16 years as the team’s representative, Kohli has failed to bring home a single championship. Speaking at the function, Kohli expressed his hope that the next league season would see him duplicate the RCB women’s WPL victory and add the IPL trophy to the team’s collection.

It was very incredible. We were watching when they won the World League. With the trophies, perhaps we can double it up, and that will be really wonderful, said Kohli. The Indian Premier League’s top run scorer, Virat Kohli, declared he would not falter in his support of the Royal Challengers Bangalore or his aggressive hitting approach. Our fan base has grown as a result of our dedication, style of play, and the emotion we have witnessed over the years. Thus, that will not alter, as I pledge to the supporters, the squad, and all those engaged each year,” he continued.
