IPL 2024: Hardik Pandya Makes Striking Comeback to Mumbai Indians, Participates in First Net Session Since 2021

For the first time since 2021, Hardik Pandya was back in the Mumbai Indians’ nets. The all-around player left the squad in 2022 to take on the role of captain for the Gujarat Titans.

On their official social media platforms, the Mumbai Indians shared a video of Pandya taking the pitch again for the first time since 2021. Throughout his first seven IPL seasons, Pandya was a productive player for the Mumbai Indians. After winning the IPL in his maiden season, the all-rounder spent two seasons with the Gujarat Titans, where he ended as a finalist.

There was controversy in the Indian cricket community about Hardik Pandya’s return to the Mumbai Indians, and fans had differing thoughts about it. Pandya was named captain of the Mumbai team for the 2024 competition. One of the most successful captains in IPL history, Rohit Sharma, was benched by the team in an attempt to protect their future. In order to acquire Pandya from Gujarat Titans, Mumbai had to restructure their squad, and they accomplished this by dealing Australian Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Hardik Pandya’s IPL Comeback After ODI World Cup 2023 Injury

The captain of the Mumbai Indians will be making a comeback after an injury he incurred during the 2023 ODI World Cup.  Prior to the Indian Premier League, the all-rounder made his comeback to professional cricket by competing in the DY Patil T20 Trophy. He has now enrolled in the MI training programme.

In the IPL 2024 auction , the Mumbai Indians successfully filled eight positions on their squad. At Rs 5 crore, South African all-rounder Gerland Coetzee was their most costly purchase, but MI also added Dilshan Madushanka and Nuwan Thushara, two interesting fast-bowling talents from Sri Lanka.
