Interstellar IMAX Re-release Tickets Priced at $215, Fans Scramble to Secure Seats
Interstellar, the epic science fiction movie directed by Christopher Nolan, is returning to the big screen in IMAX format today, December 13, in Columbus, Ohio. This re-release comes after the film made $4.5 million during its December 6 limited run on 166 theaters in the US. Due to the tremendous demand for tickets, especially in the 70mm version offered by IMAX, secondary market prices have risen beyond $200, leaving fans vying for seats.
Interstellar IMAX Re-release
Interstellar, starring Anne Hathaway and Matthew McConaughey, was previously re-released in a couple of US urban communities to a reverberating crowd and made $4.5 million. The film’s rebound to theaters showed the two its continuous allure and its ability to draw in new watchers. AMC theaters in Grover City and Easton are now providing extra showings to satisfy demand after the first shows sold out.
Variety reports that Interstellar tickets have gone for much to $215 on the secondary market. In only a few minutes, the limited re-release in IMAX’s 70mm format sold out, with some theaters averaging an incredible $70,000 per screen. Because of the overwhelming demand, the producers increased the number of showings to match the popularity of the picture.
Interstellar in India
In India, where Pushpa 2 dominated IMAX screens in December, the re-release of Interstellar faced fierce competition. Fans of Nolan were disappointed that the movie did not arrive in Indian theaters despite their excitement, as they had intended to see it in an IMAX. However, according to recent speculations, Interstellar will be re-released in India in early 2025, giving viewers there the chance to finally experience the movie on the large IMAX screens as planned.

Christopher Nolan told the Associated Press, “I was just so gratified by the response,” about the re-release’s popularity. When people react to your work at any time, it’s quite exciting. However, to have new viewers arrive and enjoy it as we had originally envisioned it on the large IMAX screens—and especially on those IMAX film prints—ten years later? Seeing that it still has vitality is quite satisfying.
