Historic Day: PM Modi Commends India’s Pledge to Chip Manufacturing Advancement

On Wednesday, three new semiconductor plants—two in Gujarat and one in Assam—were dedicated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A major step towards achieving India’s aim of leading the world in semiconductor manufacture is the completion of the ₹1.25 lakh crore projects. The Tata Group is leading two of these innovative projects. Speaking at the ‘India’s Techade: Chips for Viksit Bharat’ event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi voiced hope over the revolutionary effects of the semiconductor project.

“Today will go down in history. Today, we are not only writing history, but we are also moving closer to a promising future. As a result, PM Modi stated that India will become a global center for semiconductor facilities. India’s semiconductor market is still in its infancy, but many domestic and international businesses want to capitalize on its enormous potential.

PM Modi emphasized the strategic relevance of India’s entry into the semiconductor industry and the need for a dependable supply chain, particularly in view of the difficulties the COVID-19 outbreak has presented. India keeps its word about democracy and does it with integrity. Worldwide semiconductor production is limited, and COVID-19 has demonstrated the critical role a strong and reliable supply chain plays in supporting the world economy. The prime minister said, “India is ready to contribute significantly to this.”
