Ashwini Vaishnaw Set to Unveil India’s Fastest Homegrown Router
On Saturday in Bengaluru, Union IT and Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is scheduled to introduce the fastest IP/MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) router in India, which was designed in-country. Using labels rather than network addresses, MPLS is a routing mechanism used in telecommunications networks that moves data from one node to another.
In Bengaluru, at the Nivetti Systems facility, the IT minister will introduce the “Made in India” router. Additionally, at the Applied Materials Campus in the Sadaramangala Industrial Area in Kadugodi, he will commission the Applied Materials India Validation Center.
Numerous telecom goods, such as networking switches and routers, are covered by the government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) program for IT hardware. On May 17, 2023, the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, authorized the PLI Scheme 2.0 for IT devices, building on the popularity of PLI for mobile phones.
