Ind vs Eng 5th Test: England Opt to Bat First After Winning Toss, Padikkal Makes Debut
In the fifth and final Test of their current five-match series, England captain Ben Stokes chose to bat first against India on Thursday in Dharamsala after winning the toss. Top-order batsman Devdutt Padikkal was awarded his first Test cap by India, making him the team’s fifth new player to debut in the current series, following Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel, and Akash Deep.
India’s beginning setup for the match in Ranchi saw two changes. In the wake of harming himself during training on Wednesday, Rajat Patidar was supplanted by Padikkal, and Jasprit Bumrah got back to supplant Akash Profound. With an instructing 3-1 series lead, India is hoping to broaden their series of wins.
In his distinguished lifetime, India’s Ravichandran Ashwin is planned to show up in his 100th Test match. “Debris has been a genuine Indian cricket backbone. What a glad time it is for himself as well as his family and his country. During the coin throw, India chief Rohit Sharma proclaimed, “We will be applauding him to do the wizardry.”
Bairstow’s 100th Test Milestone as England Elect to Bat
Coincidentally, Jonny Bairstow, the England wicketkeeper-batter, is playing in his 100th Test match. “Jonny is among our all-time best players in every format. 100 Test caps demonstrate his dedication. Nice moment when he got the cap a few minutes ago, England captain Stokes remarked.

Stokes made the instinctive decision to bat first because it was anticipated that the pitch would favor the batters. Similar like Rohit, he would have also batted first. “We also would have batted first.” Compared to the previous games in this series, this pitch should have a better bounce. Excellent pitch to bat on, and I don’t think things will go too bad,” he remarked.
