IIFA Utsavam 2024 Winners: Jailer Named Best Film; Aishwarya Rai, Mani Ratnam, and Nani Shine at the Awards

At the IIFA Utsavam 2024 event in Abu Dhabi, big stars from Bollywood and South India gathered for an amazing night. The Best Tamil Film award went to Rajinikanth’s Jailer; it was received by Nelson Dilipkumar. Nani won Best Telugu Actor for Dasara, while Vikram scooped the equivalent Tamil prize for Ponniyin Selvan: II. But perhaps the evening’s most important event saw Chiranjeevi collect the Outstanding Achievement in Indian Cinema Award—presented to him by Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar as a special acknowledgment of his phenomenal contribution to their industry.

Star-Studded Night and Major Wins

Many legends of Indian film were present at the ceremony, among them Mani Ratnam, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, AR Rahman, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Ananya Panday, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. There was a success for Mani Ratnam—he won Best Director (Tamil) for Ponniyin Selvan: II. Meanwhile, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan took home an award too: she was named Best Actress (Tamil), thanks to her role as Nandini in the film. This latest win underlines her status as one of India’s finest-ever actors. And AR Rahman also had reason to smile after being named Best Music Director (Tamil) for his work on the movie.
