IAF MiG-29 Fighter Jet Crashes Near Agra During Training Mission

On Monday, a mechanical issue caused an Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG-29 fighter jet to crash during a routine training mission close to Agra. The IAF verified that the pilot had effectively controlled the aircraft to reduce any possible harm to ground-based individuals or property before the aircraft was safely evacuated. Following the incident, an inquiry was initiated by the IAF to determine the reason of the mishap.

This occurrence comes after another MiG-29 jet crash that happened on September 2 close to Barmer, Rajasthan. A serious technical issue required the pilot to safely eject the aircraft during a regular night training run. Thankfully, there were no reports of casualties or property damage, and a Court of Inquiry was later mandated. Even though the aircraft caught fire after it crashed, Barmer Superintendent of Police Narendra Meena stated that the incident happened far from populous areas.

On June 4, another IAF aircraft, a Sukhoi 30 MKI, crashed close to Shirasgaon hamlet in the Nashik region of Maharashtra. The plane caught fire and scattered debris at a distance of 500 meters, but the captain and co-pilot escaped unharmed. Technical and security specialists from the Indian Air Force and HAL inspected the crash scene.
