How Virat Kohli Recovered After 15-Run Outing in WACA Match Simulation

During a match simulation at WACA, Virat Kohli’s debut appearance lasted only 15 to 20 minutes. The star batsman scored 15 runs before being removed by Mukesh Kumar. Following KL Rahul’s departure due to an elbow injury, Kohli took the field. Shubman Gill and Kohli were left to lead after Yashasvi Jaiswal, India’s second opener, left early as well.

Kohli found it challenging to execute his signature drives on the WACA pitch because of its constant bounce. Kohli had a difficult time at first against bowlers like Mukesh Kumar, Prasidh Krishna, Navdeep Saini, and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Mukesh was his hardest opponent. Despite one delivery grazing the bottom of Kohli’s bat and falling just short of the slip cordon, Mukesh was able to skid the ball well.

Kohli’s first stint ended after he misjudged a fifth-stump delivery from Mukesh, despite a few brilliant cover drives. Kohli was determined to get better, so he immediately went to the nets to work out with throwdown experts.

A Strong Comeback

Kohli’s rhythm and confidence improved when he moved back to the middle. He scored an undefeated 30 runs before leaving the field thanks to his enhanced line and length judgment and accurate hand-eye coordination.

Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal were among the different players who rotated between net practice and the simulation game to plan for the following series. Kohli was seen messing with partners Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Rishabh Gasp to give the group a much-needed boost following a fruitful practice.
