Hezbollah Confirms Death of Top Commander in Israeli Airstrike on Beirut

On Saturday, it was reported by Hezbollah that Ahmed Mahmud Wahbi – a second high-ranking leader – had died during an Israeli airstrike in Beirut.

The attack took the lives of 15 fighters in total and targeted an area known to be a stronghold for the group. Wahbi had gained recognition for overseeing military activities from October 7 onwards as part of operations by Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force; these supported Hamas following an assault by the Palestinian organization against Israel which ultimately sparked ongoing fighting with Gaza.
