Bhole Baba Reacts to Hathras Satsang Stampede: ‘Anyone Who Created the Chaos…’

The self-styled godman Surajpal, also known as Narayan Sakar Hari, sometimes known as “Bhole Baba,” has stated that he was saddened by the Hathras “Satsang” stampede tragedy and has urged the impacted families to have faith in the legal system. Hours after Dev Prakash Madhukar, the primary suspect in the July 2 Hathras stampede, which claimed 121 lives, turned himself into police in New Delhi, ‘Bhole Baba’ made his statement to a news agency on Saturday. A short while later, the Uttar Pradesh Police arrested him.

“I am distraught by what happened on July 2. May God give us the capacity to handle this suffering. Kindly maintain your trust in the administration and the government. I’m confident that those responsible for the mayhem will not escape punishment. I have asked the committee members to stand with the injured and bereaved families and support them for the rest of their lives through my attorney, AP Singh,” Bhole Baba said.

Hathras stampede: main accused surrenders

The only person listed as an accused in the FIR filed at the Sikandra Rao police station in Hathras about the incident is Dev Prakash Madhukar, the “mukhya sevadar” of the satsang where the stampede occurred. Lawyer AP Singh stated in a video message that Madhukar had turned himself in while receiving treatment in Delhi. “Today, we have surrendered Dev Prakash Madhukar, who has been called the main organizer in the FIR in the Hathras case, after calling the police, the SIT, and the STF in Delhi since he was undergoing treatment here,” AP Singh stated.

“Since we did nothing illegal, we had pledged not to request anticipatory bail. What has become of us? He is both a cardiac sufferer and an engineer. The lawyer stated, “We turned ourselves in today to assist with the investigation because the doctors have stated that his condition is now stable.” AP Singh stated that while the police may now interview him or record his statement, they must ensure that “nothing wrong happens with him” and take into account his health.

₹1 lakh reward

An incentive of ₹1 lakh was offered by the Uttar Pradesh Police for information that resulted in the apprehension of Dev Prakash Madhukar. The Supreme Court attorney asserted on July 3 that he represented Bhole Baba as well and that the catastrophe was caused by certain “anti-social elements.”. According to Singh, Bhole Baba had requested an investigation into the whole situation and was prepared to work with the police and state administration.

As of Thursday, the case has resulted in the arrest of six people, two of whom were women volunteers who belonged to the organizing committee of Bhole Baba’s “satsang.” The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) had sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 126 (2) (wrongful restraint), 223 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by the public servant), and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence) that were the focus of a First Information Report lodged on July 2.
