Frustrated Team India Heads Back to Hotel as Rain Threatens Second Day of Test Match | WATCH
Persistent rainfall in Kanpur has yet again caused chaos on day two of the India vs. Bangladesh Test at Green Park. Play was scheduled to start but couldn’t because of a wet outfield—much to the frustration of those in the stands and the players.
It is too early for any official news about whether there will be any play at all today; however, footage broadcast by one media outlet showed members of the Indian team walking back towards their nearby accommodation. This has led some people to assume that Day Two will be abandoned.
Bangladesh finished their batting at 107 for 3 on the first day after only 35 overs. Akash Deep, an Indian paceman, took two wickets. However, what began as a light rain on Saturday morning has steadily intensified, and officials are now concerned there may not be any more play until later in the evening.
Both sides have left the ground, as have Sunil Gavaskar and Dinesh Karthik, former India cricketers who were part of the commentary team. It may be recalled that when this match began yesterday (Friday), it was delayed for an hour because the outfield was too wet from overnight showers.

India is currently ahead in the two-match series by 1-0 after winning the first Test in Chennai by a huge 280 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin was the star man in India’s victory with both bat and ball: he scored 113 from 133 deliveries during their innings; then took 6 wickets for just 88 runs when England batted again. Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill both hit centuries as India dominated throughout parts of this opening contest.
