7 Killed, 3 Injured in Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway Collision
According to a news report quoting police sources, seven people were murdered and three others were seriously injured in a collision between two automobiles on the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway, also known as the Samruddhi Expressway, in Maharashtra’s Jalna district on Friday night.
According to officials, the tragedy happened at 11 p.m. on Friday near Kadvanchi village. According to authorities, the victims were from Malad (East) in Mumbai and the Buldhana district.
What happened?
According to police, the incident occurred when a multi-utility vehicle (MUV) travelling from Nagpur to Mumbai collided head-on with a car travelling the opposite route. Six people were pronounced dead on the site, while another died later in the hospital from injuries. “A multi-utility vehicle (MUV) travelling from Nagpur to Mumbai collided with a car travelling the opposite route, killing six people on the spot. A police official was quoted as adding, “One more person died of injuries at a hospital later.”
According to the report, the accident was powerful enough to cause the MUV to shatter the crash barrier and veer off to the left side of the road. Residents and police raced quickly to the site to assist those stuck in the heavily damaged automobiles, according to officials. Umesh Jadhav, a medical officer at Jalna’s Government District Hospital, verified that six bodies had been transferred to the facility for post-mortem examination.
Three injured people are being treated in Jalna’s hospital, while one seriously injured person who was sent to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district died later. Three of the dead are from Mumbai, and many more are from Buldhana district. He stated that one individual who was sent to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar has yet to be recognized. He further stated that the three injured individuals were from Mumbai.
Accidents on the Samruddhi Highway
The Samruddhi Highway is a 701-kilometer, six-lane freeway between Mumbai and Nagpur. The first section, from Nagpur to Shirdi, opened in December 2022. According to an official, 88 people died in road accidents on the Samruddhi Expressway in Maharashtra between January and July of last year.

A state highway police official stated that road hypnosis played a role in these accidents on the six-lane access-controlled expressway. Road hypnosis, sometimes known as driving hypnosis, occurs when a person becomes psychologically detached while driving, frequently without recalling specific events at that time.
