AAP Government Stands with Farmers as Haryana Police Fires Tear Gas at Shambhu Border: Top Developments

On Tuesday, the farmers started their march from Punjab in the face of strict preventive measures that forbade them from crossing any state borders, including those between Delhi and Haryana or Punjab and Haryana. Barbed wire, concrete slabs, and roadside nails have all been used to obstruct the demonstrators at any cost. The Centre had asked for Bawana stadium to be turned into a makeshift jail in case the farmers entered Delhi; however, the Delhi government turned down their request. Every person has the right to peacefully protest, according to AAP minister Kailash Gahlot, who also stated that the demands of the farmers are sincere. Two hours after the demonstrators began their march, the Haryana police opened fire on them with tear gas shells as soon as they approached the border of Shambhu.

Farmers protest 2024: Here are the top developments
‘We are not blocking roads, say farmers’

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher stated that the boundaries between Punjab and Haryana appear to be international borders rather than state borders when the farmers began their Chalo Delhi march at 10 a.m. “We still don’t state that we’re going to close off roadways. The general secretary of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, Pandher, stated that roads had been blocked by the government for the last two to three days.

‘Congress not with us’

According to Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, the Congress is not supporting this march through Delhi. “We view the Congress party as equally responsible as the BJP, and they do not support us.” Congress itself brought out these laws. We are raising the voice of farmers, not advocating for any one person. We are farmers and laborers; we are not on anyone’s side; the CPM and CPI, who ruled Bengal, made twenty blunders. What kind of revolution originated from there in West Bengal? We shall make an appeal to all of our people, including academics, NRI brothers, musicians from Punjab or the nation, and journalists. This is not simply a subject that affects us. Not only do we support this campaign, but 140 crore of our countrymen do as well,” Pandher remarked.

Delhi stands with farmers

In reality, the Central Government need to extend an invitation to them for discussions so that they may work out a solution to their real issues. The Delhi government declined to put Bawana Stadium in jail, writing to the Center that “farmers are our annadata and treating them in this way by arresting them would be like rubbing salt into their wounds.”

Farmers

Everything is set up: barbed wire, firearms, nails, and tear gas from drones. The autocratic Modi administration is attempting to silence farmers. Mallikarjun Kharge, the president of Congress, remarked, “Recall how the farmer was defamed by being called ‘andolanjeevi’ and ‘parasite,’ and 750 farmers lost their lives.”
