Elon Musk’s Past as ‘Illegal Immigrant’ Resurfaces: Kimbal Musk’s Viral Video Sparks Controversy | Watch Now
Elon Musk has made no secret of his opposition to illegal immigration, especially after his 2023 visit to the US-Mexico border. Following his endorsement of Donald Trump, the tech tycoon has been active in online political discussions, especially on X (formerly known as Twitter), which he purchased two years ago.
Musk has referred to himself as a “pro-immigrant,” but he has also pushed for more stringent guidelines about who is eligible to enter the nation. An old interview recording with Musk and his brother Kimbal from 2013 has surfaced, causing fresh uproar as immigration is still a hot topic among voters.
Kimbal Musk: ‘We were illegal immigrants’ in resurfaced video
The Musk brothers were open and honest about the difficulties they had when they relocated from South Africa to Canada and then the US in their interview at the Milken Institute Global Conference ten years ago. The video that has surfaced again depicts them talking about the difficulties in getting money for Zip2, Elon’s 1995 startup.
Kimbal Musk said, “When they did fund us, they realized that we were illegal immigrants,” recalling how surprised they were to eventually obtain money. Elon interrupted right away and tried to qualify his assertion by saying, “Well, I mean,” but Kimbal pressed on and said that they “were illegal immigrants.” The audience laughed as Elon went on to clarify, “I’d say it was a gray area.”
Even though these remarks generated little criticism when they were said during the interview, they have generated a great deal of concern in 2024—especially with the US presidential election only a few weeks away. The comments from the 2013 interview have been making the rounds on social media, and Elon, who is now a well-known political figure, has been a strong advocate for the Republican nominee. His “deportation” has been demanded by numerous outraged internet users.
“Elon Musk’s brother admits for a time he and Elon were illegal migrants getting money from investors and working without a work permit, which is a FEDERAL crime,” the user who shared the video on X said in an attempt to rekindle the topic. However, the media never brings it up as Musk criticizes lawful Haitian immigrants. Elon, deport him!
The video that has surfaced again has fueled the continuing discussion about immigration, as Elon Musk is still under fire for his political beliefs and previous remarks.
