Elon Musk Expresses Regret Over Trump Feud: Says X Posts ‘Went Too Far’

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has apologised in public for his recent altercation with former US President Donald Trump on social media. “I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week,” Musk wrote on X (previously Twitter). They overreached themselves.

Following a week of heated back-and-forth between the two powerful individuals, the apology was made. Reports that Musk was thinking of supporting candidates against Trump-endorsed Republicans in the next midterm elections sparked the animosity. In an interview with NBC, Trump swiftly reacted, threatening “serious consequences” if Musk went through with his plan, without elaborating on what those would be.

How the Musk-Trump Relationship Soured

Elon Musk’s strong criticism of Donald Trump’s contentious “One Big Beautiful Bill” (OBBB) is the root of the problems between the two men. Despite its massive tax cuts, the proposed law is expected to increase the US national debt by almost $3 trillion. Musk blasted the bill in public, calling it a “disgusting abomination” that would leave Americans with unmanageable debt.

Their relationship became even more difficult after Musk resigned from his advisory position at the Department of Government Efficiency (DoGE) in response to his criticism. In response, Trump threatened to terminate federal contracts with Musk’s businesses, such as SpaceX and Tesla, and to withdraw government subsidies.

Musk didn’t mince words. “Trump would have lost the election without me,” he said in a scathing post on X. Republicans would hold a 51-49 Senate majority, but Democrats would control the House. He criticised Trump for displaying “such ingratitude” and even reposted articles that demanded Trump’s removal from office.

Shocking Allegations and Escalation

When Musk claimed that Trump’s name was connected to Jeffrey Epstein’s papers and implied that this was the reason the files were kept private despite Trump’s campaign pledges, the rivalry came to a head. The major reveal is about to be revealed: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. The true reason they haven’t been released to the public is because of this. Enjoy your day, DJT! Musk shared. The message was later removed, though.

Trump retorted that the administration’s plan to eliminate tax subsidies for electric automobiles was the reason behind Musk’s outburst.

“I was, like, disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, not just decreases it, and undermines the work that the DoGE team is doing,” Musk said in a May 29 interview with CBS, expressing his unhappiness with the law.

“Elon’s not leaving,” Trump said, implying a potential reconciliation even after Musk resigned his advisory position. It seems to me that he will be bouncing back and forth.
