Ellyse Perry’s unmissable reaction on shattering car window; Smriti Mandhana jumps to top of WPL Orange Cap list

Ellyse Perry’s unmissable reaction on shattering car window; Smriti Mandhana jumps to top of WPL Orange Cap list

Smriti Mandhana, the skipper of Royal Challengers Bangalore, is continuing her winning streak in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) after she reached her second fifty on Monday. In their most recent game at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the star batter mesmerized the home crowd by amassing 80 runs against UP Warriorz.

As the crowd chanted her name during the furious knock, the southpaw led the team from the front and displayed a display of graceful strokes. During her 50-ball stint in the middle, Mandhana hammered 10 fours and three sixes, helping the RCB women to their highest-ever WPL total of 198/3.

The skipper of the RCB, who had a dismal first campaign the previous year, is now dominating the Orange Cap race after scoring 219 runs at an incredible strike rate of 154.22 in five games.

Despite the 27-year-old’s outstanding play this season, which has seen him cross the 40-run barrier three times, RCB is still in a precarious position in the points table with just two victories in their last four games.

In the meantime, in the final game of the Bengaluru leg of the WPL 2024, UP Warriroz chose to bowl first after winning the toss against RCB on Monday. The RCB moved their batting lineup, moving S Meghana from Sophie Devine to the opening position in an effort to resume winning, and it was a wise choice.

A 51-run partnership between Meghana and Mandhana in 5.3 overs provided the Royal Challengers with a solid foundation. As the UP bowlers withered in the intense heat, Mandhana and Elysse Perry (58, 37b, 4×4, 4×6) combined 95 runs off just 64 balls for the second wicket to maximize that start.

Elyyse Perry breaks car window

Perry blasted Deepti Sharma for a maximum over deep mid-wicket on the fifth delivery of the penultimate over, smashing the exhibition car’s window and destroying it in the process.

With four sixes and as many fours in her 58-run innings, the Australian all-rounder provided the ideal ending to RCB’s innings. As RCB surged toward a substantial score, Perry and Richa Ghosh contributed 42 runs off 18 balls for the third wicket.
