ED Raids Raj Kundra’s Properties in Ongoing Pornography and Money Laundering Investigation

Amidst an ongoing money laundering probe, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted raids at many sites connected to Raj Kundra, the spouse of actress Shilpa Shetty. Mobile applications that produce and distribute pornographic content are linked to the searches. Approximately 15 sites in Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai have been targeted, according to reports.

This request comes after the ED’s 2024 activity, in which they held onto Raj Kundra’s properties, including his value shares esteemed at Rs 98 crore, a house in Pune, and a private loft in Juhu, Mumbai. The broader inquiry into the Gain Bitcoin Ponzi Scam was connected to this.

In 2018, the ED started looking into Amit Bharadwaj for his involvement in the Ponzi scam. Raj and Shilpa Shetty were informed in April 2024 that their assets were being temporarily attached, despite not being initially identified as suspects. Both have said they have cooperated completely with the inquiry and have maintained their innocence. Raj has personally responded to several summonses, while Shilpa has supplied the required paperwork through duly appointed agents.

Legal Challenges and Court Relief

The couple contested the ED’s order to leave their properties, including their farmhouse near Pune and their home in Juhu, in addition to the ED probe. The eviction order was ended by the Bombay High Court, which allowed impermanent relief.

Raj Kundra has previously crossed paths with the law after being arrested by the Mumbai Police in July 2021. Four ladies accused him of using the pretense of an acting chance to force him to record pornographic material. Although Kundra was freed from Arthur Jail in September 2021, his legal disputes are still ongoing as the money laundering claims and pornographic material investigations continue.
