Doordarshan airs ‘The Kerala Story’; Dhruv Rathee’s video is screened to counter
Amid a massive political backlash, Doordarshan publicized the questionable Bollywood film ‘The Kerala Story’ on Friday, April 5. The motion picture was telecast at the independent open-benefit broadcaster at 8 p.m., the news organization PTI detailed. The Kerala Story was telecast despite solid protests from the administering CPI (M) and Congress in the state.
Meanwhile, the Equitable Youth League of India (DYFI), the youth wing of the CPI (M), screened a video, ‘The Kerala Story: Genuine or Fake?’ by YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, at different places over the state to expose the movie. The youth Congress arranged a dissent walk to the Doordarshan office in Thiruvananthapuram around 8.30 pm against the broadcast of the movie. Earlier on Friday, the CPI (M) and the Congress in Kerala held up partitioned complaints with the Race Commission of India against DD’s choice to discuss the motion picture, charging it may enrapture society along devout lines and encouraging the survey board to mediate and halt its screening.

On Thursday, chief serve Pinarayi Vijayan condemned Doordarshan’s choice and asked the open broadcaster to pull back from screening the questionable motion picture, saying it would be “compound communal pressures” ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. The movie’s trailer was extremely censured and challenged some time recently by the court for “erroneously” claiming that 32,000 ladies from Kerala got changed over and radicalized and were sent on fear missions both in India and around the world. The Kerala tall court had its final year denied the discharge of the film, expressing that the motion picture trailer does not contain anything hostile to any specific community as a whole. Strong dissent was held by the CPI (M) and Congress against the motion picture when it was discharged in 2023.
