Diljit Dosanjh Served Legal Notice for Alleged Ticket Price Manipulation Ahead of India Tour

Diljit Dosanjh Served Legal Notice for Alleged Ticket Price Manipulation Ahead of India Tour

A Delhi-based law student named Riddhima Kapoor, a fan of Diljit Dosanjh, served the singer with a court notice after she was unable to obtain a ticket for the singer’s eagerly awaited Dil-Luminati India Tour.

Riddhima has allegedly accused the tour’s organisers of unethical behaviour and violating consumer rights, according to an article published in the Free Press Journal.

She alleged in her legal notice that there was “manipulation of ticket prices, unfair trade practices, and scalping” when Diljit’s next tour was being sold.

She emphasised that although though the official time for ticket sales on September 12 was 1 pm, permits were made accessible as early as 12:59 pm, which allowed a lot of people to get tickets in a matter of minutes.

Even after explicitly obtaining an HDFC credit card to take advantage of early-bird deals, Riddhima was still unable to buy a ticket.

She further claimed that these differences might be a sign of pricing manipulation and ticket scalping, which would be illegal under the 2019 Consumer Protection Act.

The abrupt lack of tickets suggests that the organisers might be exaggerating demand and manipulating prices, the notification continued. These behaviours violate consumer rights and are indicative of unfair trade practices.

In addition to Diljit Dosanjh, Zomato, HDFC Bank, and Saregama Pvt Ltd were also served with the legal notice; none of them have replied as of yet.

Diljit’s Dil-Luminati Tour is scheduled to commence on October 26, 2024, at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi and span ten magnificent cities.

Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Pune, Kolkata, Bangalore, Indore, Chandigarh, and Guwahati are on the itinerary after Delhi. Many fans were unhappy when the ₹19,999 Fan Pit and ₹12,999 Gold category tickets for the Delhi show sold out in a matter of minutes.
