Delhi Police Seeks Telegram’s Help After Pro-Khalistan Group Claims Responsibility for Rohini School Blast
The Delhi Police are looking into a potential Khalistani connection to the explosion that happened at the CRPF school in the Prashant Vihar neighborhood of Rohini. In an attempt to learn more about a group called Justice League India that took credit for the explosion in a social media post, the authorities have contacted the messaging service Telegram.
It claimed that the bomb was a response to Indian agents reportedly targeting pro-Khalistan separatists, and the message was purportedly posted on October 20. Using a “Khalistan Zindabad” watermark and a video of the explosion, the post went viral on social media. It said, “They are living in a delusional world if the Indian coward agency and their master believe they can pay dirty goons to target our members in order to stifle our voice? #JLI #Zindabad #Khalistan
Delhi Police is collaborating with other authorities to confirm the post’s legitimacy, even though they have not heard back from Telegram yet. Thus far, no official group has emerged during the probe. To look into the situation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also been called in.
No one was hurt in the October 20 morning explosion, which damaged a wall, some parked cars, and the glass panes of surrounding businesses. Police sources say the explosive was likely put to send a statement rather than cause harm. It is believed to be a remote-controlled or timer-controlled low-intensity improvised explosive device (IED).
Following the explosion, forensic experts collected samples from the location as teams from the Delhi Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), National Security Guard (NSG), and NIA sealed off the area. While CCTV evidence revealed the explosion happened between 7:35 and 7:40 in the morning, residents characterized the sound as “intense” and complained of a foul odor in the neighborhood.
