Dehradun Accident: Six Students Killed in Tragic Crash, Police Await Family Complaints for Legal Action
The tragic loss of six young lives in a road accident near Dehradun’s ONGC Chowk has left families devastated, but no official complaint has been lodged, potentially delaying formal police action, according to The Times of India. The accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, when a speeding Innova crashed with the back of a container truck. Six people died in the tragedy, three men and three women, all under the age of 25, while one, 25-year-old Siddhesh Agrawal, is still in serious condition in the hospital.
Inspector KC Bhatt of Cantt police station stated that they are waiting for complaints from families before formally registering a case. Police are also talking with legal specialists, as preliminary investigations indicate that the truck driver was not at fault; instead, the Innova driver may have been speeding when the vehicle hit a known blind spot on the truck’s rear left side.
Neeraj Semwal, the Circle Officer (City), confirmed that the accident victims perished on impact. Police studied CCTV footage, which showed the automobile moving at regular speeds through crucial crossroads such as Rajpur Road, Saharanpur Chowk, Balliwala, and Ballupur before suddenly speeding near ONGC Chowk. Five of the dead were Dehradun residents, while one was from Chamba. According to reports, the accident occurred while the party was on a late-night drive.
