Here are major records CSK holds in the IPL
Most appearances in playoffs
This record is well-known under the Chennai Super Kings moniker. Out of the 13 seasons they have played in, the MS Dhoni-led club has advanced to the playoffs or semifinals 11 times, missing out in 2020 and 2022. CSK has the most top-4 finishes of any franchise, despite serving two season bans in 2016 and 2017. This record demonstrates the incredible steadiness of the MS Dhoni-led team.
MS Dhoni’s record for most matches as a captain
Without the legend that is MS Dhoni, CSK would not have this legacy. With the exception of the two seasons that CSK was suspended, the former captain of India has been with the team the entire time and has guided them to remarkable success. Prior to the 2022 Indian Premier League, Dhoni gave Jadeja the captaincy; however, after six defeats in eight games, Jadeja resigned and returned it to Dhoni.
Lowest total defended
In Durban, during the 2009 South African Premier League (IPL) season, CSK held off Kings XI Punjab by 116 runs. After twirling a web around the Punjab batsmen, seasoned spinner Muthiah Muralidaran responded with amazing figures of 2/8 in 4 overs.
