In addition, Dhoni is the only player who has led the same team as captain each of his playing seasons. The only player to have participated for the same side in all 16 seasons is Virat Kohli, the former captain of both the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Indian cricket team. With 7,263 runs with a strike rate of 130.02 and an average of 37.24, he is also the biggest run scorer in IPL history. He struck four century and amassed 973 runs in the 2016 Indian Premier League, setting a record for the most runs in a single season. Though he has made it to the final three times, he has not yet won an IPL championship with RCB.

Rohit Sharma is the most decorated player in the history of the Indian Premier League. He won five IPL titles while captaining the Mumbai Indians (MI) and one in 2009 while playing for the Deccan Chargers (DC). In IPL history, he ranks as the fourth-highest run scorer as well. Before joining MI in 2011, Rohit began his IPL career in 2008, playing for DC until 2010. Since assuming the leadership of MI in 2013, he has won the most IPL titles of any club or captain, with five victories.

4. Shikhar Dhawan

In his career, left-handed opener Shikhar Dhawan has represented four different teams. He began playing with the Delhi Daredevils (DD) in 2008 and remained with them through 2010. In 2011 he relocated to Michigan and continued to play there until 2012. He became DC’s top run scorer in 2013 after joining the team in 2013 and playing for them till 2018. In 2019, he rejoined the Delhi Capitals (DC) and continued to play for them until 2021, making it to the 2020 final. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) purchased him in 2022 and kept him on staff for 2023. The second-highest run scorer in IPL history is Dhawan.

5. Dinesh Karthik

In his career, wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has represented six different teams. He began performing for DD in 2008 and remained with them till 2010. After that, he relocated to KXIP in 2011 and spent a season playing there. He became a member of MI in 2012, and he played for them till 2013, during which time he won the IPL. In 2014, he made a comeback to DD and spent a season on their roster. In 2015, he moved to the Royals and spent a season playing with them. In 2016, he then relocated to Gujarat Lions (GL), where he played till 2017. Having captained the team in 2018 and 2019, he joined KKR in 2018 and remained a member till 2021. In 2022, RCB purchased him.
