Will Rahul Gandhi Accept Key Post? Congress Huddle Expected to See Clamour Today

The Congress will choose Rahul Gandhi’s successor as the party’s MP in the Parliament today amid calls for him to take up the role of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. In the just-ended Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi is credited with leading the party to victory with 99 seats. Members of his party said that his two yantras were different. During the 2019 general elections, the Congress has only secured 52 seats.

“At the CWC meeting, we will examine the Congress party’s 2024 election performance. The Congress party will choose the CPP chairperson at the CPP meeting, which is set at 5:30 p.m. We all agree that Rahul Gandhi ought to be appointed as the Congress’s leader in the Lok Sabha. Should he accept this position, he will head the 234 INDIA bloc MPs as LoP. As everyone knows, the BJP was the only significant party in the previous Lok Sabha, but they lost the majority. The Congress leader Manickam Tagore stated, “Indian alliance leaders have decided to wait and watch, and we will take a decision at the right time. Their dependence on Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar is the only way they can form the government.”

Sonia Gandhi is expected to be re-elected as the leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP), according to ANI. Rahul Gandhi, the victor of the Raebareli and Wayanad Lok Sabha elections, would face pressure to take the position. In both of the Houses of Parliament, party leaders may be chosen by the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Party. The previous LOP of the Lok Sabha was Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. But the party would need to replace him because Yusuf Pathan of the TMC won the polls.

Subsequently, a decision regarding the opposition leader might be taken. The opposition leader in the parliament is Congressman Mallikarjun Kharge. The demand was also raised by Congress MP Dean Kuriakose. Today, a single leader will be chosen by the legislative body. Rahul Gandhi is anticipated to lead the Parliamentary Party. Now that we have a decent number. We’ll assemble a formidable foe. We are going to attack the BJP. Indeed, there is a mandate opposing the BJP. The Indians oppose Narendra Modi. Let’s wait and see,” he continued. The BJP’s total was reduced to just 240 seats, while the INDIA alliance got 234 seats. Because there are fewer seats, Narendra Modi will have to rely on the backing of Nitish Kumar and N Chandrababu Naidu.
