British YouTuber Miles Routledge Faces Backlash Over Racist Comments Against India
Famous British YouTuber and social media character Miles Routledge is facing criticism after he posted a thread of highly racist comments against India on the social media platform X. Routledge is the same British student who was left stranded in Afghanistan when the country was taken over by the Taliban in 2021. He has faced flak for insensitive remarks targeting Indians.
On Tuesday, Routledge posted a screenshot on X from an anonymous user that appeared to be threatening him. With no clear evidence of the user’s nationality, Routledge accused the troll of being Indian and tacked on a racist comment that mocked the way Indians supposedly speak. “Saar okay lord saar good luck saar haha saar,” he wrote, mimicking an exaggerated version of an Indian accent.
The controversy did not end here. In one more tweet, Routledge-a writer-made this shocking statement for launching nuclear weapons against India. “When I become PM of England I will open the nuclear silos as an unmistakable warning to any foreign power who seeks to interfere with British interests and affairs. I’m itching to launch and atomize entire nations over the smallest infraction,” he tweeted.

When confronted by a user who accused him of rage-baiting and happened to be an Indian, Routledge doubled down: “Believe it or not, I just don’t like India.” Having set up a thin attempt at proving why he assumed that the troll was Indian—based on sentiment stereotyping rather than any hard evidence—it will be highly accessible.
Routledge has been condemned on social media, along with many others, in large part for giving voice to a larger debate about racism and online hate speech. Again, the incident banged another record on the YouTuber’s reputation, trolled many times in the past for his controversial antics.
