Boycott IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’: Netizens Criticize Anubhav Sinha Over Controversial Series

The streamer of IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack by Anubhav Sinha has raised a storm of controversy since it dropped on social media. This series is linked to the traumatic hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight way back in 1999 by terrorists.

Indeed, the critics rated the performances, but a section of netizens felt that the series “whitewashed” the event and changed the terrorists’ names.

As reported in the press, the hijackers deserved to go by the names of Ibrahim Athar, Shahid Akhtar Sayed, Sunny, Ahmad Qazi, Zahoor Mistry and Shakir. Hostage identifies the terrorists by the names Bhola, Shankar, Doctor, Burger, and Chief-the show reasoned these were code names.

One user even tweeted, “@#BoycottIC814, The Kandahar Hijack simply. These people whitewash oepnly. How is even that possib? The reviews for IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack remain good, with a lot praising its stellar cast in the likes of Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Vijay Varma, Dia Mirza, and Arvind Swamy.
